When they finished up down the street, they came here, gave us an estimate and began choppin' down the tree within the hour! Alas, this delayed our ASAP-ness on getting to the beach! We did eventually make it there and I'll post some pictures soon. For now, here are shots of our maple...before, during and after the removal.

Our Beloved Maple Tree
We had quite a day this past Friday when the weather was beautiful. Our plan was to get to the beach ASAP! Upon Scott's arrival home to the neighborhood, he approached some guys that were trimming a large tree just down the block from us. He told them about our maple and asked for an estimate. For those of you who don't know, our backyard maple tree died last summer. :( It still looked kinda cool, but when it started to shed off its bark, we decided that it was time for it to go. We had bad luck with two different tree guys who said they would show and didn't (did they call you?! ha). SO...back to Friday...

I miss that beautiful maple, but I am sure that you will plant beautiful greenery in it's place.
Waah!!! Did they call YOU? LOL. What did it cost yas?
Ah, but such lovely hostas surrounding the ol' girl and my, what lush evergreen trees along your border!!
So, hows about another plantin' session one o' these days?
:P
Wow.....well, I guess the good news is that Mick can plant a tree and watch it grows, as he grows through time. Have you thought about what tree to plant that can thrive in that spot? I have always been a HUGE fan of the cherry blossom tree (my favorite, here in SF)...but of course the sequoia trees are also rather amazing..however, you might need a larger backyard for that one!
